Thorne Nutrition Guide
We are pleased to partner with our Official Wellness Partner, Thorne, and USA Rugby to support athletes’ health & wellness needs with safe, high-quality, science-backed products and expert educational resources.
Being a good rugby player starts with being healthy and eating right. USA Rugby and Major League Rugby, in collaboration with Thorne, have formulated a series of all-encompassing guides to better educate the rugby community on sports nutrition.
CHAPTER ONE: MACRONUTRIENTS
Nutrition for sports performance is more than what you eat during competition; it is what you eat and drink all day long as well as during practice, training sessions and competition. Staying hydrated and eating a balanced diet helps you perform at your best on the pitch and in school or work.
CHAPTER TWO: MICRONUTRIENTS
Vitamins and minerals are considered micronutrients – meaning we need them in small quantities. They help support health and performance by facilitating energy production and muscle recovery, among many other processes. These nutrients are found throughout the food supply; when you are able to get these nutrients from food, you have the added benefit of other nutrients such as phytonutrients, which are components only found in plant foods, that are also an important part of health and performance.
CHAPTER THREE: HYDRATION
