Team President – Anthem Rugby Carolina
Anthem Rugby Carolina (RC) joined Major League Rugby ahead of the 2024 season. The team is the product of a comprehensive partnership between Major League Rugby, World Rugby and USA Rugby focused on enhancing the development pipeline for American players and the USA Eagles (the US national men’s rugby team) ahead of Rugby World Cups in Austalia in 2027 and USA in 2031. Anthem RC embraces the concept of rising stars throughout its brand, symbolic of the efforts of the new club to invest and grow American rugby. American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, serves as the home of Anthem RC.

Major League Rugby is a professional sports league representing the highest level of rugby competition in North America. MLR prides itself in fostering intense, high-stakes competition while bringing together a passionate community built on the values of respect, inclusivity, and tradition. Matches are televised on Fox Sports as well as local market platforms, and its OTT Platform, The Rugby Network which offers fans the ability to stream select MLR matches live, along with Gallagher Premiership Rugby, Allianz Women’s Premiership Rugby, and other international rugby content.
Position Summary
The Team President will be responsible for all day to day business operations of Anthem Rugby Carolina. Reporting to the ARC Board this person ensures strategic organizational and financial goals are achieved for the team in addition to focusing on long-term growth, community presence and awareness.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Primary face and decision maker of the organization with all internal and external stakeholders including the board, media, local government, business community, stadium management team, community groups and business operations team (Queen City Sports).
- Speak before the media, various community groups, and local businesses to provide information
- Primary oversight and liaison of departments currently being managed by QCS such as marketing, public relations, sponsorship sales, advertising, ticket sales.
- Particular focus on working with QCS to build strategic plans focused on growing the overall marketing presence and revenue generation of the team, primarily sponsorship and ticket sales.
- Responsible for building and implementing a community relations strategy aimed at growing the awareness and relationships of ARC to ensure growth and viability in the broader business and rugby community of North Carolina.
- Liaise with the Rugby Operations team to ensure a harmonious relationship between high performance and business sides of the organization
- Liaise with Major League Rugby department heads to ensure compliance with league rules and regulations in regards to marketing, PR, broadcast, sponsorship.
- Development and management of organizational budget ensuring accurate reporting, projecting and cost management
- Constantly monitor, evaluate and implement game day experience plan to ensure operational excellence on all ARC game days

Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, sports management or related field.
- Minimum ten years full-time experience in managing the business operations of a sports organization, business or related field.
- Proven experience and success at senior management level, managing teams and reporting to a board preferred.
Additional Information
- Â This position is based in Charlotte, NC and requires weekends and evening work during the MLR season.
- Out of season this individual is expected to attend networking events in the evening and weekends to grow their network and Anthem’s notoriety in the greater Charlotte business community.
